Bringing
life back
into vacant
property
In Anglet, on the Basque coast, ENGIE has been operating
a site of almost 9 hectares since 1930, consisting of
several buildings: offices, workshop, storage, factory,
housing. A few years ago, ENGIE was looking for a solution
to secure the site and, pending a future project, revive it.
The solution was found in temporary occupancy: office
spaces were transformed into rooms and the red timber-
framed houses, a typical example of local architecture,
became shared living spaces.
Two of these residents, Marine-Anaïs and Noémie, have
been sharing accommodation for several months and are
happy to have found a space at such a low price. After all,
the Basque coast's tourist appeal is driving up real estate
prices in the region considerably. So, to find a room just
minutes from the ocean, near a forest and shops, was
an unexpected surprise for these two young women. For
Marine-Anaïs, Monoma offers the perfect solution to live
in such a special place. "It is my dream to live abroad one
day, and as an independent entrepreneur, the flexibility of
the Monoma rental conditions gives me the opportunity
to make my dream come true."
