Security and
Artificial intelligence (Ai)
The
increasing
possibilities
in
artificial
intelligence(Ai) offer opportunities to improve
the quality of security. That is why we are
working on this in great detail. We highlight a
few interesting opportunities.
The use of Ai reduces false alarms. For
example, the system can start to recognise
the difference between waving branches
and a burglar. Does waving plastic cause an
alarm to go off frequently? Then there is a
risk that an alarm centre will fail to detect a
real intrusion. The use of Ai filters out such
things. Incidentally, there are false positives,
but also definitely false negatives: situations
where there should have been a notification
but there was not. Smarter systems make sure
the alarm goes off at the right time.
Another possibility is counting people: how
many people are present in the building or on a
site. Counting objects can also be particularly
useful. Think of packages in shared hallways
or cars in (temporary) car parks. We also
see opportunities when it comes to human
behaviour. For instance, by measuring noise
at congregating groups and thus proactively
preventing nuisance. Or by being able to trace
the origin of waste.
In short: Artificial intelligence has the future,
also within security.
